Filler
Facial fillers are temporary to long lasting medical esthetic solutions that are administered on different areas of the face through small facial injections. Dermal fillers are products of sugar molecules or composed of hyaluronic acid, collagen and calcium hydroxyapatite. All rejuvenate the facial skin, reduce or eliminate wrinkles, enhance lips and replace soft tissue volume.
Usually one filler injection session is about 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the patient and the area that is being treated. Facial fillers require minimal downtime and patients can get back to work and continue with their daily activities right after the treatment. Still, it is recommended that in the first 24h the patient avoids heat, sun exposure and strenuous activities.
TYPES OF FILLERS
Hyaluronic acid is a natural filler substance that is found in our body. As the face loses volume and appears aged, these types of dermal fillers are used to create the desired young looking skin around different areas of the face.
Collagen is also a naturally occurring protein that supports different body parts including the skin, ligaments and tendons. The collagen dermal filler is made from purified cow skin and is used to fill different lines, wrinkles and scars on the face.
Botox (or Botulinum toxin) is another filler that is injected in small and diluted amounts into specific muscles causing controlled muscle weakening and smoothing of wrinkles and facial creases. Wrinkles caused by sun exposure and gravity will not respond to this type of filler.
Lip Enhancement
Lip enhancement or lip fillers are injectables of substances that will give your lips a more full appearance. These injectables are more natural than implants and their growth in popularity is mostly because they are a quick, easy and relatively comfortable solution with immediate visible results.
There are different types of lip enhancement injectables available, so ask your doctor which is right for you. The procedure consists of injection of the filler into the soft tissue of your lips.
The final result lasts from 6 months up to 1 year.
Cheek Enhancement
Cheek Enhancement injectables treat the loss of volume in the face that appears from the natural process of aging. The procedure involves injection of hyaluronic acid into the cheek area; adding volume to the cheek area. Their goal is to freshen up the patient’s appearance and reduce the so called “tired” look.
These injectables are for men and women who want more defined cheeks, rejuvenate their face, restore face volume after weight loss or create more definition.
The usual duration is between 12 to 14 months.
Nasolabial Folds
The nasolabial folds are lines that are located on either side of the mouth and are more visible when a person smiles. As the human body ages, though, these folds become deeper and saggy. Sun exposure damages the skin causing wrinkles while loss of collagen with aging makes the skin look thin and weak.
Nasolabial treatments are gel-like injectables placed underneath the skin, making it look more plumped up and reducing the appearance of wrinkles. These treatments will not make the Nasolabial folds disappear, but they will make them look less pronounced helping the skin to look rejuvenated and restore volume.
Most Nasolabial injectables last between 6 to 18 months.
Marionette Lines
Marionette lines extend from the corners of the mouth towards the chin and are the result of a loss in facial volume due to aging. Some people may be genetically predisposed to have these lines in the corners of their mouth.
Younger individuals with soft lines are ideal candidates for this treatment, as the older individuals can develop very deep Marionette lines which cannot be completely erased. The treatment includes the injection of hyaluronic acid-based filler and is short in duration and almost painless.
The results lasts up to 12 months.
Neck
Neck Injectables combat the effects of wrinkling caused by frequent exposure to sunlight, gravity or pollution. Injecting natural or chemical substances into the skin of the neck or chest area fills in the lines, tightens the skin and produces more youthful appearance.
Neck Injectables come in two categories, fillers and Botox. Fillers fill the empty space in the skin when collagen and elastin break down and smooth the wrinkles around the injection site.
Neck Injectables last between 4 to 12 months.
